About The Position

Fort Hays State University is hiring a full-time Custodian for its academic buildings. The role is responsible for cleaning an assigned building in a way that promotes health and safety, and for general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture. Regular hours are Monday through Thursday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM and Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with occasional weekend hours required. The start date will be determined after acceptance of an offer and clearance of a background check. Compensation is $15.03 per hour, plus a $0.30 shift differential. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of custodial experience.
Experience operating custodial equipment, including a high-speed floor buffer, carpet extractor, and floor auto scrubber.

Responsibilities

Clean the assigned building to promote health and safety.
Perform general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture.
Operate and maintain power equipment and hand tools, including floor auto scrubbers, carpet extractors, high-pressure washers, high-speed floor buffers, and vacuums.
Dust and clean facilities and furnishings.
Sweep and mop floors.
Vacuum and shampoo carpets.
Strip, clean, and buff hard-surface floors, and apply floor sealer and floor finish.
Empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedures, and refill restroom dispensers.
Wash interior and exterior windows.
Assist with setting up facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and events.
Perform cleaning and related activities, such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and outside grounds.
Replace light bulbs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
