About The Position

Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Custodian. We are recruiting two (2), regular, full-time positions located in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE). This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies. This position is represented by Oregon Public Safety Association. What you will be doing: Perform a wide variety of custodial duties at the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. Duties may include but are not limited to cleaning windows and door glass, emptying and cleaning of cigarette urns, cleaning of loading dock area, and weather-related duties during inclement weather. Clean and sanitize restrooms and drinking fountains, empty trash receptacles, and restock dispensers. Strip and wax hard surface floors and clean carpets as requested with appropriate equipment. Clean office building - remove trash and recycle paper from centralized locations in each building, empty trash from outside receptacles, sweep/damp mop hard floors, vacuum/clean stairwells, vacuum/spot clean carpets, dust/remove cobwebs, clean vents, clean and sanitize counters, tables, and sinks in break rooms, workstations, and conference rooms. Spot clean display case glass, clean and sanitize vending machine faces and buttons, and clean and sanitize elevator buttons and walls. Perform event set up and take downs for graduations, meetings, and events for the agency and other groups, including setting up chairs, tables, and trash cans. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
Valid driver’s license
Clean driving record
Experience that included operating equipment similar to, or needed to, perform custodial duties
Ability to push/pull heavy equipment and objects, crouch, stoop, bend, and stand/walk while operating equipment for extended periods of time
Employees are required to keep a valid Oregon Driver's License
The final candidate must be able to pass a CJIS clearance check

Nice To Haves

Training or experience in a hospitality (campus, hotel, hospital, etc.) setting
Professional cleaning experience in floor care including carpet, linoleum, wood, and slate maintenance/cleaning
Experience using a wide variety of janitorial/custodial equipment
Experience handling and application of janitorial/custodial supplies and chemicals
Experience working around public safety personnel is desired
Highly motivated, fast-paced workers with a positive attitude
Customer service experience, skills, and knowledge
