About The Position

Southeastern Regional School District is seeking a full-time custodian for the day shift. The hours are Monday- Friday 5:30AM-2:00PM. Southeastern is a diverse, multicultural vocational technical high school, which serves over 1700 students. The students balance the rigors of a complete academic course of studies with technical skill training in over 20 career majors. Our students are prepared for college, career, and/or additional technical training upon graduation.

Requirements

Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
Reliability in attendance and maturity
Minimum 3 years of experience

This position is classified as medium work, which means that you will be required to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
You will be standing, walking, twisting, bending, stooping, and reaching constantly throughout the work day.
You must be able to perform a variety of gross and fine motor skills using your feet, legs, arms, hands, and fingers.
You must possess the visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses, to perform the essential functions of the position, including the operation of tools, vehicles, and job-specific equipment.

Responsibilities

Keeps buildings and premises neat and clean at all times.
Shovels, plows, and sands walkways, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are closed or open as appropriate and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture as needed.
Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it.
Scrub, hose down, and disinfect toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily as needed.
Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.
Keeps the building and grounds free from rubbish.
Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
Makes minor building repairs.
Reports major repairs promptly to the Supervisor.
Reports to Supervisor all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing.
Assumes responsibility before leaving, that all doors and windows are secure, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
Moves furniture or equipment within the buildings as required for various activities and as directed by Supervisor.
Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or the Supervisor of Custodians.
