About The Position

Wisconsin Athletics is hiring a custodian to help clean and care for our sports facilities. As part of our custodial team, you will help keep areas like locker rooms, restrooms, offices, floors, training rooms, and weight rooms clean and ready for use. This job includes different cleaning tasks that may change from day to day. The work requires using cleaning tools and supplies safely and correctly. Requirements

• Knowledge of institutional or commercial cleaning methods, techniques, cleaning supplies and equipment.
• General knowledge of the tools, equipment, and setups used with residential, meeting, and conference activities.
• Basic knowledge of the activities and services necessary to efficiently provide services for residential, meeting and conference activities.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow workers and station users and guests.
• Ability to perform duties properly and efficiently under pressure of deadlines and with interruptions.
• Dust mopping and wet mopping floors and halls.
• Manually, or by machine, strip floor finish and apply new floor finish.
• Scrub bathroom sinks, toilets, fixtures, floors and walls. Wash inside of windows and ceilings.
• Operate industrial vacuum cleaners and carpet extractors.
• Move supplies, furniture, file cabinets, tables and other equipment.
• Pick up waste paper and recycling from offices, classrooms, labs and empty into outdoor rubbish containers.
• Climb ladders and replace light bulbs.
• Snow and ice removal from steps and sidewalks.
• Cleaning and dusting floors, furniture, doors, radiators, desks, windowsills, chalkboards, etc.
• Must have the ability to work alone performing duties in assigned area(floor/building).

Responsibilities

• Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
• Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
• Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
• Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
• Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
