About The Position

The Custodian safely performs skilled and routine maintenance, grounds, and housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the facility. This role involves managing and maintaining the cleanliness and order of both the inside and outside of the facility, including tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, window washing, mowing grass, raking leaves, and snow shoveling. The Custodian will also handle trash removal, basic maintenance requests, ordering supplies, cleaning bathrooms, and maintaining bathroom supplies. The position requires the ability to operate general custodial equipment and cleaning supplies.

Requirements

• Partial High School education; High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
• Strong sanitation habits.
• Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and coworkers.
• Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management.
• Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the facility.
• Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
• Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 30 lbs. regularly, 40 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for the entire work day.
• Work in outside weather conditions, including high heat, high humidity, cold temperatures, snow and rain.
• Climbing steps regularly and climbing ladders occasionally.
• Ability to fill mowers with gas.
• Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
• Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
• Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain the cleanliness and order of the inside facility, including light dusting, vacuuming, and window washing.
• Manage and maintain the cleanliness and order of the outside property, including mowing grass, raking leaves, minor snow shoveling, picking up trash.
• Pull trash from trash receptacles throughout the unit.
• Replace trash bags as needed.
• Sort recycling for trash bins.
• Respond to and perform basic maintenance requests, including changing light bulbs and moving furniture and boxes.
• Order supplies as needed, keep storeroom clean and stocked.
• Receive and put away deliveries.
• Clean bathrooms.
• Maintain all bathroom supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap dispensers, and toilet seat covers.
• Operate and maintain general custodial equipment, such as lawn mower, weed whacker, leaf blower and vacuum cleaner.
