About The Position

This is a part-time evening position for a Custodian, working from 5pm to 9pm. The role involves cleaning various areas within general offices, private offices, lobbies, lounges, kitchen/break rooms, coffee areas, washrooms, restrooms, stairways, corridors, computer rooms, conference rooms, and mailrooms. For schools, this includes hallways and classrooms. The custodian will be responsible for sweeping and damp mopping hard surface floors, vacuuming and spot cleaning carpeted floors, cleaning entrance lobby floors, and vacuuming/sweeping stairs. Restrooms require floors to be swept, mopped, and rinsed with disinfectant detergent, along with cleaning and sanitizing fixtures, mirrors, and partitions. Waste receptacles will be emptied, liners replaced, and dispensers for towels, tissue, and soap refilled. Smoking areas will be maintained by sifting sand urns and refilling as needed. Dusting will be performed on furniture, windowsills, ledges, moldings, and picture frames. Office machines will be feather dusted, and glass surfaces like desk tops and entrance doors will be cleaned. Special attention will be given to decorative areas. Drinking fountains, kitchen/break room tables, chairs, appliances, and sinks will be cleaned and sanitized. The coffee service area counters will be damp wiped and sinks cleaned. The custodian is expected to use minimal lighting and turn off lights upon completion of service, ensuring the building is secure by checking locks and setting alarms. Adherence to dress code, punctuality, wearing identification, and maintaining a professional demeanor are required.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep and/or damp mop hard surface floors in general offices, private offices, lobbies, lounges, kitchen/break rooms, restrooms, stairways, corridors, and classrooms.

  • Clean entrance lobby floors.
  • Clean restrooms, including floors, fixtures (toilet bowls, urinals, hand basins), mirrors, and partitions.
  • Empty waste receptacles, replace liners, and place debris in designated areas or remove from the building.
  • Refill towel, tissue, hand soap, and feminine product dispensers.
  • Maintain smoking areas by sifting sand urns and refilling as needed.
  • Dust desks, filing cabinets, bookcases, chairs, tables, and other office furniture, dusting around personal items only.
  • Dust windowsills, low ledges, moldings, and picture frames.
  • Feather dust office machines.
  • Clean and dry polish glass desk tops.
  • Clean entrance doors.
  • Remove smudges from partition glass.
  • Clean and sanitize drinking fountains.
  • Damp wipe kitchen/break room tables, chairs, and appliances.
  • Clean coffee service area counters and sinks.
  • Use minimal lighting when working and turn off lights upon completion.
  • Keep janitorial closets neat and orderly.
  • Check all locks and set alarms where necessary before leaving to ensure building security.
