About The Position

Part Time Custodian at $14/hr. (Mon-Fri 5pm-9pm). This role involves cleaning various areas including general offices, private offices, lobbies, lounges, kitchen/break rooms, coffee areas, washrooms, restrooms, stairways, corridors, computer rooms, conference rooms, and mailrooms. It also includes cleaning hallways and classrooms in schools. Specific tasks include sweeping, damp mopping, vacuuming, spot cleaning carpets, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and fixtures, emptying waste receptacles, refilling dispensers, dusting furniture and surfaces, cleaning glass, and maintaining cleanliness in decorative areas and kitchen/break rooms. The custodian is also responsible for using minimal lighting, turning off lights upon completion, keeping janitorial closets orderly, checking locks, and setting alarms.

  • Ability to safely use standard cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, and carts.
  • Ability to climb stairs and move throughout the facility as needed.
  • Vision, hearing, and mobility sufficient to perform job duties safely.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in an evening work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep and/or damp mop hard surface floors.
  • Vacuum and spot clean carpeted floors.
  • Clean entrance lobby floors.
  • Vacuum and/or sweep stairs.
  • Sweep and/or damp mop kitchen/break room floors.
  • Sweep, mop, and rinse restroom floors with a disinfectant detergent.
  • Clean and sanitize restroom fixtures including toilet bowls, urinals, and hand basins.
  • Wipe down mirrors and small partitions and tile walls.
  • Clean sanitary napkin receptacles.
  • Empty waste receptacles and place debris in designated areas or remove from building.
  • Replace liners in waste receptacles.
  • Refill towel, tissue, hand soap, and feminine product dispensers.
  • Empty waste receptacles and remove debris from building; replace liners as needed.
  • Sift sand urns, empty soiled sand, and refill as needed.
  • Dust desks, filing cabinets, bookcases, chairs, tables, and other office furniture, dusting around personal items only.
  • Feather dust office machines.
  • Clean glass desktops and dry polish.
  • Clean entrance doors.
  • Remove smudges from partition glass.
  • Clean directory signs.
  • Pay special attention to decorative private offices and reception areas.
  • Clean and sanitize drinking fountains.
  • Damp wipe kitchen/break room tables, chairs, and appliances.
  • Clean kitchen/break room sinks.
  • Damp wipe counters in coffee service areas and clean sinks.
  • Use minimal lighting when working.
  • Turn off lights when nightly service is completed.
  • Keep janitorial closets neat and orderly.
  • Check all locks and set alarm where necessary before leaving to ensure building security.
