About The Position

LC State invites applications for the position of Custodian. This role involves performing duties associated with commercial cleaning, including operating industrial-type cleaning equipment, cleaning various facilities, moving heavy items, and repairing equipment. The position is subject to a criminal background check and potentially an education verification. LC State is an EEO/VETS employer.

Requirements

Willingness to perform duties associated with commercial cleaning.
Willingness to operate industrial-type cleaning equipment such as high-speed buffers and vacuum cleaners.
Willingness to clean restrooms, bath facilities, locker rooms, and similar facilities.
Willingness to move heavy items such as tables, chairs, and bleachers.
Willingness to repair the equipment and related devices.

Nice To Haves

Experience cleaning in a commercial, educational, or industrial setting.
Experience in operating custodial maintenance equipment.
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

Performs heavy-duty cleaning in hospital setting, locker rooms, classrooms, dormitories, and lavatories.
Cleans, sanitizes, and polishes bath, lavatory, shower, and sink fixtures.
Dusts, washes, sponge mops, sanitizes, and shampoos furniture, woodwork, walls, windows, and glass items.
Cleans shades and covers on light fixtures and replaces light bulbs.
Removes waste and debris from areas.
Selects products and compounds for cleaning jobs, and measures and mixes compounds, disinfectants, and sanitizing agents.
Orders supplies for custodial closets and stocks them.
Sweeps, strips, seals, and finishes wood, linoleum, and other floors.
Washes windows in multi-story buildings.
Removes and prepares draperies for cleaning.
Removes adhesives, tiles, and carpet.
Refinishes floors and prepares them for re-carpeting or special flooring.
Instructs temporary help.
Operates heavy-duty scrubbing, buffing, shampooing, vacuuming, and wet/dry pickup equipment.
Performs preventive maintenance on cleaning equipment.
Finishes floors using sanders, strippers, and final finishers.
Uses snow blowers, hysters, airlift platforms, dollies, and carts.
Replaces belts, brushes, and bearings in power equipment.
Ensures that floor and building area is secure.
Verifies doors are locked and lights and appliances are off.
Reports fire hazards and other emergencies.
