About The Position

This is an entry-level position suitable for students with basic foundational knowledge and little to no practical experience, ideal for freshmen or sophomores who have completed only introductory courses. The Custodian department is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of various areas within the facility.

Requirements

Must be able to lift items weighing up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
Must be capable of a full range of body movement.
Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
Should have a grammar school education.
No prior work experience necessary.
Must exemplify the University Honor Code, including the dress and grooming principles and expectations.
All applicants must be available for an on-site interview at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, HI.
Must attach resume and current schedule (weekly view).
To start working at BYU–Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center, all new hires must complete the Form I-9 to verify their eligibility to work in the U.S.
As part of the I-9 process, prospective employees are required to provide certain documents to prove identity and work authorization. You must bring with you the actual document. No photocopies are allowed.

Nice To Haves

Preference will be given to students who can work during academic breaks.

Responsibilities

Sweeps, mops, and polishes floors.
Vacuums and spot cleans carpets.
Removes trash from trash containers.
Removes water from walks and driveways.
Hoses down and pressure washes Pacific Pavilion, front entrance, IMAX, Concessions and Alii Luau areas, and any other walkway in assigned area(s) as needed.
