About The Position

Augustana University is seeking applications for a full-time, year-round custodian position on the day shift, 03:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.. While previous experience is beneficial, it is not a requirement for this role. The custodian plays a vital role in maintaining the campus buildings, contributing to a learning environment that promotes health, a positive attitude, and pride among students, faculty, and staff.

Requirements

Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism.
Ability to interact tactfully with personnel, students, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
Applicants must comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and may be required to submit official transcripts upon employment.
Finalist candidates must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

Ensure the university is in good repair, maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions (e.g., grease/oil spills, sawdust, excess supplies).
Follow daily cleaning schedules and procedures meticulously.
Ensure work and assignment areas are clean and that tools, supplies, and equipment are properly stored.
Maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment, minimizing waste and misuse.
Maintain the appearance of work areas.
Use and handle chemicals, compounds, and solvents according to OSHA guidelines, adhering to all established safety procedures and precautions.
Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions practices during housekeeping procedures.
Vacuum, dust, and clean glass surfaces.
Clean public restrooms, laundries, and theme houses.
Pick up and deliver supplies and materials as needed.
