About The Position

The Custodian's primary goal is to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient environment for learning, playing, and developing. This role involves performing a variety of routine and specialized custodial tasks to maintain the school facilities and grounds.

Requirements

High School diploma or G.E.D.
Satisfactory completion of State mandated health examination.

Responsibilities

Perform routine custodial activities including sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, waxing, polishing floors, and vacuuming carpets.
Clean classrooms, restrooms, showers, locker rooms, shops, cafeteria, offices, and related facilities.
Clean and disinfect drinking fountains, sinks, toilets, showers, and urinals; clean mirrors, tile, and windows.
Report safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to the appropriate authority.
Report and recommend maintenance repairs to the appropriate authority.
Maintain security of buildings and report suspicious individuals or rule infractions.
Wash windows and walls; clean chalkboards, trays, and erasers.
Assemble, move, and arrange furniture, supplies, and equipment for events and meetings.
Clean venetian blinds, dust and polish furniture and woodwork, and make minor repairs.
Lock and unlock doors and gates, maintain security, and operate the alarm system.
Pick up and dispose of paper, trash, and debris around school grounds and in buildings.
Wash out trash cans and follow established sanitation procedures.
Pack, unpack, load, receive, and store books, supplies, materials, and other items.
Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, carpet shampooers, and power sweepers.
Perform yard-keeping chores such as grass cutting and tree trimming as needed.
Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required.
Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
Respond to emergency cleanups and maintain records of maintenance, repair needs, and safety issues.
Participate in major summer cleaning projects.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal/Asst. Principal or Superintendent.
