About The Position
Central Louisiana State Hospital (CLSH) in Pineville, Louisiana, is seeking applicants for a Custodian 1-3 position in its Housekeeping Department. This role involves performing basic manual tasks to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings and facilities. The Custodian 1-3 is crucial to the Behavioral Health community by upholding CLSH’s values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to patients. The hospital is dedicated to cooperative work with other state agencies and regional mental health programs to ensure integrated and coordinated hospital-community services.
Requirements
- No experience or training required.
Responsibilities
- Maintains sanitary environment and performs routine custodial services.
- Dusts walls, furniture, appliances, and surfaces.
- Sweeps/dusts, cleans blinds and windows.
- Wet mops, strips, waxes, and buffs floors in patient care areas and ancillary buildings.
- Cleans and disinfects all restrooms, shower areas, and laundry equipment daily and as needed.
- Performs custodial tasks to maintain cleanliness of building exteriors, adjacent grounds, and areas under the department's operational control.
- Sweeps sidewalks, porches, and cleans the outside of buildings.
- Cleans and decontaminates areas where body fluids are present.
- Mixes cleaning solutions to proper concentrations.
- Replaces, strips, decontaminates, and makes patient beds.
- Ensures proper disposal of bio-hazardous wastes.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients by reporting all safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Checks and maintains adequate supplies of cleaning products, paper products, and personal items for patients and staff.
- Ensures housekeeping carts have current safety data sheets.
- Informs staff of problems that could adversely impact environmental cleanliness or safety.
- Trains in non-violent crisis intervention to respond to patients in crisis situations.
- Attends inservices and training on proper procedures, products, chemicals, and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Responds to emergency and on-call duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the Custodial Services Department.
