About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks in assigned areas of a school building. This includes sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, emptying trash receptacles, cleaning restrooms, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and safety of the school environment. The Custodian may also be responsible for minor repairs and reporting any maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to complete a three (3) year work history in the application, including periods of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work.

Nice To Haves

• Previous custodial or janitorial experience.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming floors.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the school.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
• Clean windows, walls, and other surfaces as needed.
• Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Perform minor repairs as directed.
• Ensure that cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.
• Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas.
