About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for performing routine custodial duties to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the school building and on school grounds. This includes cleaning classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and other school facilities. The Custodian will also be responsible for minor repairs and general upkeep of the building and grounds.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a school environment.
Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

Perform routine cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and other school facilities.
Sweep, mop, wax, and buff floors.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
Dust furniture, blinds, and equipment.
Wash windows and doors.
Perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, tightening screws, and unclogging drains.
Maintain custodial equipment and supplies.
Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor.
Assist with groundskeeping duties as needed, such as picking up litter.
Ensure all cleaning is done in accordance with safety and sanitation standards.
Follow all school district policies and procedures.
