About The Position

This position is for a 2nd shift Custodian at Lawrence School, working 40 hours per week for 12 months per year. The shift hours are 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, with the possibility of working the 1st shift during school vacations and summer. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for students, faculty, and visitors.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred.
Certificate of good health signed by a licensed physician, upon hire.
Ability to read basic operating instructions and reports.
Ability to use online/technology systems to operate maintenance equipment, including: furnace, tools, alarm systems, emails, online training, etc.
Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of tasks assigned.

Responsibilities

Perform daily tasks in cleaning and maintaining a school building and surrounding area.
Ensure a healthy, safe, and clean environment for students, faculty, and visitors.
Work on a shift basis with a crew or supervisor.
Report building issues to the head custodian.
Be present in the cafeteria for all lunch periods.
Sweep, mop, and dust floors, stairs, classrooms, shop and assembly areas, lavatories, furniture, and outside steps.
Collect trash and empty wastebaskets.
Wash windows, glass doors, blinds, and walls.
Take care of vending machine supplies.
Wash, strip, wax, and polish floors using powered equipment.
Clean fixtures in lavatories and replace soap and paper products.
Vacuum clean rugs, carpets, and drapes.
Remove stains and spillage.
Remove ice and snow from walks and steps.
Check for fire hazards and water damage.
Replace broken lights and damaged hardware.
Temporarily board up broken windows.
Perform routine cleaning of the boiler room, equipment, and floor area.
Occasionally lift and move furniture.
Respond to emergency situations as required, such as snow removal and water leak cleanup.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Head Custodian, or Shift Leader.
