About The Position

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Custodian to join our facilities team at the Thyra Thomson Office Building. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all state employees and visitors and will have a mid-shift from 12 pm to 9 pm Monday through Friday.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
0-6 months of progressive work experience (typically in Building and Grounds)
Must be able to drive vehicles and operate large, complex cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working with PPE, emergency procedures, event setup and coordination, cleaning methods, cleaning materials, and chemicals.

Responsibilities

Responsible for general cleaning, vacuuming floors and furniture, emptying trash and recycling containers, dusting, mopping, sanitizing, washing windows and mirrors, and cleaning/stocking restrooms, bathrooms, and offices.
Learns where custodial supplies are kept and replenishes supplies when needed.
Observe and identify areas that need repair and submit information to the supervisor.
Complies with state and federal policies such as OSHA and EPA.
Operates and maintains equipment, including vacuums, riding floor cleaners, floor buffers, carpet cleaners, and hand and shop tools.
Moves furniture and sets up conference rooms for meetings and events.
Performs designated watchman rounds to ensure security and safety, checks building systems for proper function, and updates security logs.
Performs chemical renovations.
Monitors fire protection systems.
May assist with outside building and grounds duties such as trash and snow removal.
