About The Position

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas. The role performs janitorial duties, completes tasks on the daily schedule, maintains assigned areas and cleaning equipment, and handles hazardous and special waste in accordance with applicable procedures. The position requires following safety protocols, using appropriate personal protective equipment, reporting incidents and hazardous conditions, and working professionally with coworkers, supervisors, managers, and customers. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, at $15–$16 per hour. Requirements

No specific education requirement.
Preferred: 3–6 months of training or experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Complete all safety and task-training certifications.
A valid driver's license may be required based on business needs; employees who drive for work must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and meet company driving eligibility requirements.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment, including willingness to share knowledge with the team.
Knowledge of cleaning equipment upkeep and care.
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual ability is a plus.
Forklift certification may be required.

Responsibilities

Perform janitorial duties and complete all duties listed on the daily schedule.
Collect, classify, sort, store, ship and receive, label, clean, recycle, and package special and hazardous waste.
Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain the assigned area and cleaning equipment.
Report incidents and hazardous conditions to a supervisor; follow safety rules, policies, and procedures, and stop at-risk behavior.
Perform assignments as part of a team, including repetitive tasks, and maintain a clean work area.
Follow protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules; use proper personal protective equipment.
Take direction and respond to supervision; communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
Fill in during staff shortages and support the shift lead in completing punch-list items.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, and support customer service and satisfaction.
Drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities when necessary to perform essential functions.
Understand reporting systems and the work environment.
