About The Position

The Custodian position is responsible for maintaining clean, safe and sanitary conditions in and around the Erb Memorial Union (EMU). Duties include sanitation of restrooms, floor and window care, cleaning of the building, dining areas and all surrounding grounds, emptying garbage, compost and recycling, assisting with general maintenance of facility, and providing excellent customer service to all EMU staff and visitors. The custodian will demonstrate and promote effective and respectful communication with staff, management, building users and other campus departments. The person in this position will exhibit appropriate behavior in the workplace, creating a respectful work environment. This position reports to the Custodial Services Manager and is part of the EMU's night shift, generally working 8:00pm-4:30AM Sunday through Thursday.

Requirements

One year of custodial experience
Basic knowledge of commercial cleaning equipment and chemicals
Ability to work independently and in a team
Ability to perform duties in a way that advances and supports the mission of the department and the University
Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment and create effective relationships for problem-solving and positive interactions
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to maintain a safe and safety-conscious workplace
