About The Position

Felton Institute responds to the needs of our community by providing innovative, evidence-informed social services that transform lives. Our organization offers 60+ programs that address mental health, the unhoused, early care and education, those impacted by the justice system, transitional age youth, as well as aging adults. Our programs combine the latest scientific research with cultural sensitivity and a deep commitment to supporting and reflecting the communities we serve. Felton’s Bayview Drop-In Center provides support individuals experiencing homelessness throughout San Francisco. This program provides various amenities orchestrated by our Peer Advisors, who are well versed in the needs of clients and how to navigate through San Francisco’s Homeless Response System (Via trainings conducted by HSH). The clients can drop-in daily to take advantage of free meals, hot showers, laundry facilities at no-cost as well as access to substance abuse programs, job search and housing assistance. Clients can also receive mail at our location during business hours and its securely locked and managed by our administrative staff. We also offer 50 spots for clients to rest on a nightly basis that is safe (Security on site 24-7), clean (On-site roaming janitorial staff) and peaceful (“Serenity Room” for physically/mentally vulnerable to ensure our clients can rest peacefully.) Clients can engage in games, activities or simply debrief from long days with television and some quiet time. Our clients come back religiously every night because we treat each client with respect and promote a familial atmosphere in our Drop-In center.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
Previous related experience
Ability to independently speak, understand, read, and write in English adequate to the meet the needs of the job.
Must pass a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
Frequent Lifting (5 to 25 lbs): Handled multiple times an hour. Examples include full trash bags, buckets of water, mop handles, vacuum cleaners, and boxes of paper towels.
Occasional Lifting (25 to 50 lbs): Handled periodically during a shift. Examples include large bags of rock salt, commercial mop buckets, industrial floor buffers, and large packages of cleaning chemicals.
Rare/Team Lifting (Over 50 lbs): Moving heavy furniture, desks, or large appliances usually requires a team lift or the use of dollies and carts
Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools.

Responsibilities

Clean facility/facilities and work areas to ensure Felton Institute meets health and safety standards and presents an attractive appearance.
Sweeps and mops floors throughout the Drop-In Center and Spot mop as needed Dust as needed.
Maintains Garbage dumpsters, Disposes of all trash, compost and recycling daily.
Maintains and power wash sidewalks in front of building, picks up litter in front or on each side of building.
Dust and spot clean furniture, shelves, moldings and other dust collecting areas.
Tidy, organizes and cleans storage areas as requested.
Keep laundry-room clean, Whip down Washing machine and Dryer before and after each use, Sweep and Mop laundry room as needed.
Maintains all Restrooms, Cleans and disinfects all toilets and refills toilet seat covers, toilet paper, paper towels and soap dispensers as needed.
Maintain and Keep both Client showers of the Drop-In Center clean and disinfected throughout the day.
Checks, closes, and secures all windows and doors at the end of shift.
Ensure exits are clear, fire doors are unlocked.
