About The Position

This position is responsible for working in the campus warehouse, transporting equipment, furniture, and supplies using a College van or truck to support the setup and teardown of campus events and the cleaning of campus spaces. The position also provides custodial coverage, as needed, in residence halls, academic buildings, and administrative buildings. This is a swing shift position reporting to the Building Service Manager as primary, with support from the Swing Shift Supervisor. Employees are expected to work within their individual lifting capacity and to utilize safe work practices, including team lifts or task redistribution, when necessary.

Requirements

  • Custodial/cleaning experience, preferably six or more months of custodial or cleaning experience.
  • Safety mindset.
  • Able to safely perform the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and repetitive movement as outlined in the job description, with or without assistance from a coworker, while following safe work practices.
  • Know the importance of keeping places clean and equipment running smoothly.
  • Team player.
  • On-time and dependable person.
  • Superb attendance.
  • Looks to solve a possible problem before it becomes one.
  • Asks questions if something is not known.
  • Strong professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Perform set-up and take-downs of equipment and seating for events.
  • Provide warehouse logistical support, up to and include driving a forklift, pallet jack, and other applicable tools.
  • Perform warehouse inventory and delivery duties, including receiving, organizing, tracking, loading, transporting, and distributing equipment, furniture, and supplies.
  • Provides support as needed in cleaning assigned buildings on campus, including dusting, wiping, and vacuuming of all offices and rooms.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms and kitchen areas.
  • Restock supplies.
  • Collect all the trash and recycling from assigned areas.
  • Perform a wide variety of floor cleaning tasks, such as vacuuming, spot cleaning and shampooing carpets, damp mopping, stripping and refinishing floors and deep cleaning.
  • Collaborate and assist the team in shift goals including filling in for others while they are away.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs.
  • Be an advocate for safety. Follow all safety procedures and make sure that others do, too. Report any unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
  • Perform some group projects, such as team cleans or team maintenance.
  • With the shift team, occasionally move office furniture.
