Part-time Custodian/Maintenance Help - Globe
About The Position
This is a part-time position at Globe that requires a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card for employment at Gila Community College. The role involves performing general physical activities, operating cleaning and light construction equipment, and handling hazardous materials safely. Duties are performed under direct supervision with minimal independent decision-making. The position requires maintaining cleaning schedules, emptying trash, restocking supplies, performing extra cleaning duties, making reports on needed repairs, assisting maintenance staff, moving heavy items, and maintaining cleaning logs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to pass a background screening process and obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Familiarity with or good knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and maintain a positive attitude.
- Must be proactive when it comes to carrying out duties.
- Familiarity with and understanding of safe work practices, particularly when performing general physical activities, handling hazardous materials, and operating tools and equipment.
- Willingness to work a non-traditional, sometimes flexible schedule as needed.

Responsibilities
- Perform general physical activities including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, carrying objects, and handling tools and materials.
- Stand and move comfortably for several hours at a time.
- Operate cleaning and/or light construction equipment and handle hazardous materials in a safe and effective manner.
- Keep to cleaning schedules, including cleaning of windows, mopping floors, dusting, and sweeping.
- Empty trash bins on a regular basis.
- Put up signs to signal wet floors or other safety situations.
- Re-stock materials like toilet paper and hand towels in washrooms.
- Perform extra cleaning duties as instructed by supervisors.
- Ensure assigned cleaning tasks are executed in a timely and orderly manner.
- Work as part of a team to execute cleaning duties and maintain standards of neatness/cleanliness.
- Make reports to supervisor concerning repairs that are needed.
- Work with Maintenance staff and/or perform some maintenance and repair duties.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks.
- Inform supervisor and appropriate authorities of any unintended/unsafe contact with hazardous materials.
- Prescribe appropriate cleaning materials and products for disinfecting and sanitizing.
- Maintain proper cleaning schedules, cleaning logs, and other custodial records.
- Perform similar duties as directed.
