About The Position

This position is responsible for light to moderate, and heavy cleaning and custodial work during an assigned shift; to include janitorial and minor maintenance on HVAC units. This job also requires moving furniture which may include loading and unloading trucks as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma
Two (2) years of related custodial experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more.

Responsibilities

Sweeping, mopping, polishing and stripping floors.
Cleaning restrooms and replacing toilet paper and soap.
Washing and polishing furniture.
Cleaning the kitchen area and boiler room.
Cleaning exterior and interior windows, blinds, fixtures, walls, and other furnishings.
Performing routine and preventative maintenance of major equipment in a school building.
Repairing and cleaning the boiler and fire tubes at regular intervals.
Checking air-conditioning and heating equipment for proper operation maintenance; to include changing and cleaning filters.
Repairing defective flush-valves, light switches, door locks, performing routine painting, replacing light bulbs and window panes as required.
Trimming hedges and small trees; cleaning and maintaining trails; debris removal.
Picking up paper and debris in the building and on the grounds, and transporting and emptying large trash containers into outdoor units, sweeping sidewalks.
Moving furniture, equipment, boxed textbooks, and other supplies.
Assisting with loading and unloading trucks.
Monitoring and stocking the supply room; delivering packages.
Locking and unlocking doors, checking the security of buildings and grounds, activating the alarm system, lowering flags.
Participating in snow removal.
Performing other duties as assigned.
