About The Position

The University of Arkansas is seeking a Custodian I for the 2nd shift. This role is responsible for the general cleaning of various areas on campus, including office buildings, classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, auditoriums, and common areas. The position involves tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying trash, operating a carpet extractor and floor buffer, and cleaning restrooms. Additionally, the custodian will be responsible for snow and ice removal during winter months. Regular, reliable attendance and the ability to maintain positive working relationships are essential functions of this job.

Requirements

• Ability to effectively communicate to be able to perform job duties
• Ability to do required lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
• Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of custodial experience in the commercial/corporate industry
• Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment operation and maintenance
• Ability to follow instructions and perform repetitive manual work
• Ability to use cleansers and other agents to clean floors and furniture
• Ability to use housekeeping cleaning supplies and equipment
• Ability to work independently without close supervision
• Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions
• Ability to perform multiple tasks and to prioritize assignments
• Ability to perform repetitive manual work

Responsibilities

• General cleaning of areas in and around office buildings, classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, auditoriums, building common areas, and other areas on campus as required.
• Vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, and emptying small office trash cans as well as large Brute trash cans.
• Using a carpet extractor and a floor buffer.
• Cleaning commodes, sinks, water fountains, etc.
• Snow/ice removal during winter months.
• Other duties as assigned.
