About The Position

Custodian I positions sweep and scrub floors; wash windows and walls; polish, empty, and clean waste containers; vacuum and shampoo carpets; clean restrooms; maintain equipment and materials used on the job; set up and take down tables and chairs; and perform other duties as assigned. Eligible benefitted employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS). After gaining the requisite experience, Custodian I employees may be eligible for career advancement to Custodian II. The list established for these positions may be used to fill full-time, half-time, and/or limited, hourly vacancies. Custodian I employees may be required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays for which they may receive additional pay.

Requirements

• 18 years of age or older; except for high school graduates (or persons with GED equivalency) who are 17
• United States citizen or have the current legal right to work in the United States
• A valid California Class C Driver License may be required at the time of hire

Benefits

• General wage increases: 3.5% effective 7/1/27, 2% effective 7/1/28, 2% effective 1/1/29
