About The Position
This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment within the college facilities. The Custodian I will perform daily cleaning tasks in restrooms, classrooms, laboratories, and offices. This role also involves assisting with moving equipment, making minor repairs, supervising student workers, and driving college vehicles. A key aspect of this role is to promote and support a culture of belonging, ensuring all members of the college community feel welcomed, valued, and respected.
Requirements
- High School graduate or GED.
- One (1) year of successful experience in the custodial area.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to qualify for auto insurance.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize designated restrooms daily, including sinks, urinals, toilets, showers, wastebaskets, partitions, walls, mirrors, dispensers, and floors.
- Replace toilet paper and towels, and remove garbage/trash from restrooms.
- Sweep and mop floors in classrooms, laboratories, and offices.
- Wash windows, clean walls, and dust furniture and fixtures.
- Vacuum carpets, strip walls, scrub floors, and wax floors.
- Assist in moving office equipment such as tables, chairs, and desks.
- Make minor repairs on furniture and facilities.
- Supervise student workers.
- Drive light trucks and automobiles as directed.
- Support and promote an environment of belonging for all students, faculty, and college employees.
- Foster a community where individual perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment.
