Custodian I - 2nd Shift
About The Position
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance and Operations, performs general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and community members. Assignment may include any/all of the District's facilities depending on District needs. This is a full-time position working 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (Monday through Friday) on a 260-day contract. The working hours are from 3:00 pm to 11:30 am, with potential for afternoon, evening, and/or weekend shift requirements based on District needs. Summer hours may be shifted according to District needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or completion of sufficient education to successfully perform the duties of the position
- Previous experience in building and cleaning maintenance desirable
- Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation
- Must be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of cleaning
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to use most common hand/power tools
- Must possess sufficient physical ability to perform necessary lifting, lift and carry 70 lbs., standing, climbing, walking, etc.
- Satisfy all statutory provisions governing submission of all pre-employment requirements including a criminal record background check and recommendation of prior employer(s).
Responsibilities
- Effectively utilize necessary equipment to perform essential custodial job functions
- Unload, transport and maintain equipment, materials and supplies
- Assist with district and community activity/event set up and clean up
- Perform seasonal duties including lawn/landscape care and snow removal
- Promote good safety practices
- Uses hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow removal equipment, power mower and hand tools
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used in the performance of duties and the myriad of other duties as delineated in the Custodial II job description
