About The Position

Packaging Services Industries, Inc. (PSI) is seeking a Custodian/Assembler for its Williamsport, MD plant. This full-time position primarily focuses on custodial duties, with the core schedule being first shift, Monday through Friday. The role requires a self-motivated individual with at least one year of custodial experience and preferably experience in an assembly department within an industrial setting. Assemblers are responsible for operating equipment and machinery safely in the assembly department, which involves assembling various types of foam, corrugated products, wood, and packaging supplies to meet customer needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of custodial experience
  • General knowledge of computers
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Physical ability for constant walking, moving, reaching and making repetitive motions
  • Frequently stooping, kneeling, crouching
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Pushing and pulling up to and over 40 pounds
  • Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection and protective footwear
  • Willingness to make a commitment of time and effort to become part of a team producing quality specialized packaging in a safe, drug free environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within an assembly department in an industrial setting
  • 1 + year experience in a manufacturing/warehouse setting
  • Knowledge of proper types of custodial equipment, cleaning agents, sanitizing chemicals and protective gear to use in all types of cleaning work, and the ability to use them safely
  • Knowledge of (or ability to learn) the use and operation of a standard buffer, vacuum cleaner, and other related equipment
  • Ability to read a tape measure

Responsibilities

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, strip and polish floors
  • Clean and maintain carpeted areas
  • Wash walls, windows, stairways and woodwork (which may require working from a ladder)
  • Dust and polish furniture and equipment
  • Move and arrange furniture and equipment
  • Clean, sanitize and deodorize restrooms and restock restroom supplies
  • Empty wastebaskets and remove trash inside the building and also around the outside of the building
  • Empty containers of paper and other materials, set aside for the County recycling program, bring recyclables to the designated collection area and place in appropriate storage containers
  • Maintain cleanliness of employee break rooms
  • Operate equipment and machinery safely in the assembly department
  • Assemble various types of foam, corrugated products, wood, and packaging supplies to meet customer needs
