This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the LSU Student Union facility. This person must be capable of moving about in a 305,000 square foot building multiple times daily to clean and prepare ballrooms, meeting/conference rooms, lobbies, office space, and exterior sidewalks, patios, and balconies. The person must also be able to ascend and descend the stairs of a 4 story building multiple times daily and stand for extended periods during cleaning processes. They must also be capable to stoop, kneel, and crouch to pick up litter, retrieve equipment, and clean restrooms, offices, lobbies, and maintain floors. This person should be capable of moving furniture that weighs 20 to 40 pounds or more and transport tables and chairs weighing 60-80 pounds to set-up for events throughout the building. Will use arms/hands to operate floor/power equipment used in preparing and maintaining floors. The person will work with and be exposed to common cleaning products. Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure. A permanent or probationary internal employee who is appointed to another position following certification from an open competitive eligible list is considered a new employee in the new position and shall serve a probationary period of six months.
