As a Custodial Worker 1 with the Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home, you will play an important part in creating a healthy and pleasant environment. Nice To Haves

• Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices, or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing)
• Work experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital
• Work experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient or resident rooms or a dining room setting
• Work experience cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas
• Work experience removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
• Work experience using and mixing chemicals or solvents
• Work experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax, and buff floors
• Custodial work experience in one of the following environments: activity or recreation room; bathroom, shower, or bathing room; cafeteria or dining room; entranceway, lobby, or common space; nursing station; patient or resident rooms; pharmacy; physical therapy rooms

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of resident rooms, offices, common areas, and specialized spaces
• Carry out tasks such as mopping, dusting, sweeping, polishing, and sanitizing a wide range of surfaces and equipment
• Collect and dispose of trash, recyclables, and infectious waste in proper locations
• Restock soap, paper products, cleaning supplies, and related materials
• Maintain safe work areas and report hazards or problems to supervisors
• Move heavy furniture and clean mobility equipment such as wheelchairs and Geri chairs
