About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Custodial Technician will ensure an attractive and well-maintained facility by performing assigned repairs and maintenance tasks related to the upkeep of buildings and grounds following established routines and instructions. CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION: I will support the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region’s commitment to child abuse prevention by: Reporting any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor Following all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children Completing all child abuse prevention training as required Reporting any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor The YMCA has zero tolerance for abuse. We will report all suspected and/or allegations of abuse to the state and federal law.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write and follow instructions.
  • Basic computer skills (email and work tickets)
  • Possess basic mechanical aptitude
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Applied knowledge of procedures, safety measures and commonly used concepts within multiple facilities disciplines
  • Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification

Responsibilities

  • Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
  • Completes all maintenance and repair work lists as provided by the Camp Director. Tasks will include routine plumbing, drywall repair, painting, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, landscaping, snow removal, machine and vehicle servicing, etc.
  • Serves as the support person on maintenance projects.
  • Performs repairs and cleaning of building and grounds equipment as directed.
  • Completes all maintenance tasks in a timely fashion minimizing downtime due to facility failures ensuring a positive member/camper experience.
  • Assists with routine general maintenance such as simple room setups for meetings, moving furniture and performing heavier cleaning as necessary or as directed by the Facility Director.
  • Maintains all required logs, records and documentation necessary to uphold compliance with municipal codes, Branch procedures and association policy.
  • Notifies Camp Director of supply stock shortages to maintain adequate inventories.
