About The Position

McPherson College is seeking an experienced, hands-on Custodial Supervisor to lead our custodial team while helping maintain a beautiful, clean, and welcoming campus. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys leading by example. As Custodial Supervisor, you'll work alongside your team while coordinating daily operations, training employees, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring every campus facility reflects the pride we take in serving our students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Facilities Management team is central to the College's success, ensuring our classrooms, residence halls, athletic facilities, and public spaces remain clean, safe, and ready to support student life. Requirements

  • Experience supervising or leading a custodial, housekeeping, facilities, or similar operations team.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, and safe chemical handling.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • The ability to motivate, train, and develop employees.
  • Good judgment, dependability, and a commitment to quality.
  • A customer-service mindset with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • The ability to perform the physical requirements of custodial work, including lifting up to approximately 50 pounds and remaining active throughout the workday.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Practical leadership, initiative, integrity, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Working alongside custodial staff to clean classrooms, offices, residence halls, athletic facilities, and public spaces.
  • Planning daily work assignments and coordinating custodial coverage across campus.
  • Training new employees on cleaning procedures, equipment, safety practices, and College standards.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supporting custodial staff while fostering a positive team environment.
  • Conducting building inspections to ensure consistent quality and cleanliness.
  • Coordinating major cleaning projects, including floor refinishing, carpet cleaning, wall washing, and summer deep-cleaning activities.
  • Evaluating new custodial products and equipment to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintaining custodial checklists, records, schedules, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborating with other Facilities Management staff to support special events and campus operations.
