About The Position

Arizona’s first and only autism-focused charter school is expanding and seeking Custodial Specialists to support the new state-of-the-art autism center. Under the supervision and direction of the Facilities Manager, the Custodial Specialist will be responsible for timely attention to the maintenance and custodial needs of the new state-of-the-art autism center.

Requirements

  • Understanding of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial, grounds keeping, and building maintenance work
  • Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
  • Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
  • Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
  • Attention to detail and conscientiousness
  • Very good physical condition and strength
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card
  • Stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions
  • Exerting up to 60 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • High school diploma is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Opening duties (unlocking the building and ensuring it's ready for school)
  • Closing duties (walking the campus, ensuring it's locked up, and setting the alarm)
  • Cleaning up trash, periodically disinfecting desktop surfaces, tidying furniture, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, and polishing floor surfaces, and cleaning windows
  • Cleaning and sanitizing toilets, sinks, and showers
  • Restocking disposables (paper towels, toilet paper, soap, sanitizer, and air freshener)
  • Performing maintenance and minor repairs (replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, minor leaks, toilet needs, etc.)
  • Performing other maintenance tasks such as adjusting desks, replacing light bulbs, cooling filters, and adjusting doors
  • Reporting or submitting additional maintenance work orders as needed
  • Ensuring the alarm system is turned off in the morning and activated prior to leaving
  • Undertaking custodial and janitorial tasks (picking up trash from the parking lot, lifting heavy items, moving chairs, etc.)
  • Assisting in the annual inventory of all equipment in the school
  • Setting up and restoring the gym, auditorium, or cafeteria for special events, meetings, games, or plays
  • Performing basic plumbing and mechanical maintenance and repairs to leaks, stoppages, and other equipment/structures
  • Advising supervisor if an outside vendor is needed for a complex repair
  • Ensuring the restrooms are prepared to AZACS standards for the day
  • Maintaining outer premises by watering plants, cleaning entrances, and minor landscaping repairs
  • Performing minimal pest control (utilizing insecticides to prevent infestation by dangerous pests)
  • Cleaning up bloodborne pathogens
  • Assisting in all safety drills (per EOP Manual)
  • Assisting with drop-off and pick-up procedures (per EOP Manual)
