About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a part-time Custodial Night Porter in the Downtown/Kakaako area of Oahu, Hawaii. The role is scheduled Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM, for 19.5 hours per week, at an hourly rate of $17. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, able to work independently and with a team, and comfortable standing and walking for extended periods. Previous experience is desirable but not required; training will be provided. The porter cleans and maintains restrooms and common areas, including floors, fixtures, mirrors, and other surfaces; empties waste and recycling; restocks supplies; and maintains cleaning equipment and supplies. The employee also monitors spaces for cleanliness, reports maintenance issues and safety hazards, and leaves the premises secured at the end of the shift. Other tasks may be assigned by the HBM supervisor.

Requirements

Successfully pass a prescreen check.
Ability to perform tasks in various weather conditions.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
Physical ability to carry, lift, push, or pull 25 to 50 pounds, and to stretch, kneel, bend, crawl, climb, and press.
Ability to safely and effectively operate cleaning equipment.
Willingness to learn and participate in training.
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
Good communication skills in English and ability to work well with a team.
Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude toward maintaining cleanliness standards.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous custodial or cleaning experience is desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

Clean, dust, and sanitize restrooms and common areas.
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
Empty trash and recycling bins, dispose of waste in designated areas, empty wastebaskets, and replace liners as needed.
Dust furniture, files, and tables; monitor floor areas for scraps, paper clips, and other debris.
Spot-clean doors and light switches, including removing fingerprints from both sides of glass doors.
Turn off lights, lock doors, and leave drapes and louvers closed when leaving.
Clean and disinfect sinks, toilet bowls, and urinals with germicidal solution, including nearby tile walls.
Clean and polish mirrors, exposed piping below basins, bowls, and urinals, towel dispensers, receptacles, and other metal surfaces.
Restock soap and paper products.
Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies.
Report maintenance issues and safety hazards.
Help ensure a clean and orderly environment for staff and visitors.
Perform other tasks as directed by the HBM supervisor.
