About The Position

This position is responsible for leading and performing a variety of custodial tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for students and staff. The Custodial Leader will oversee a team of custodians, assign tasks, inspect work, and ensure adherence to cleaning standards and safety protocols. This role requires a strong understanding of cleaning procedures, equipment operation, and the ability to manage and motivate a team.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of three (3) years of custodial or janitorial experience.
Experience in a lead or supervisory role is preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
Ability to operate various cleaning machines and tools.
Understanding of health and safety regulations.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical ability to perform all custodial duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a school or institutional setting.
Certification in custodial services or related field.

Responsibilities

Lead and direct the work of custodial staff.
Assign daily tasks and inspect work for quality and completeness.
Ensure all areas of the facility are cleaned and maintained according to established standards.
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment.
Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and order as needed.
Implement and enforce safety procedures and protocols.
Train new custodial staff on procedures and safety.
Respond to custodial emergencies and spills.
Perform routine custodial duties as needed, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and restroom sanitation.
Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
