About The Position

This full-time position offers a consistent Monday–Friday schedule with early daytime hours and rare weekends or evenings, while giving you the opportunity to lead a team and play an important role in keeping Dining Services facilities safe, clean, and operating smoothly. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide supervision of staff and activities for custodial, deliveries, preventative maintenance/repairs, and laundry activities.

Requirements

• Substantial experience in custodial, facilities, maintenance, delivery, or a related operational environment.
• Experience providing work direction, training, or supervision to others.
• Current ServSafe certification or comparable food safety certification, or ability to obtain ServSafe certification within the first three months of employment.
• Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
• Current DOT medical card or ability to obtain one within the first three months of employment.
• Broad range of custodial skills, including cleaning, sanitizing, floor care, waste and recycling handling, and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
• Basic maintenance and repair skills related to minor electrical, plumbing, equipment, and facility needs.
• Ability to safely perform delivery operations, including organizing deliveries, navigating routes, operating one-ton delivery/box trucks and vans, and operating a lift.
• Ability to provide helpful and responsive customer service.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide clear direction to staff and student employees and coordinate effectively with others.
• Sound troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Ability to use computers and common workplace software, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Responsibilities

• Support the mission and vision of Concordia College and demonstrate the competencies as defined for this position.
• Supervise and assist staff with general cleaning and maintenance of Dining Service facilities.
• Perform custodial and general maintenance duties as needed to keep Dining Services’ equipment and facilities in the best working order.
• Maintain adequate inventories of frequently used parts, supplies, and tools needed for repair.
• Place work orders with internal technicians and services as needed.
• Arrange service with external technicians as needed.
• Assist with loading and timely delivery of food products to contract customers throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area using a delivery vehicle and lift.
• Plan delivery routes to maximize fuel, labor, and cost efficiency.
• Order custodial supplies, chemicals, and paper products.
• Assist with selection and specifications for custodial equipment.
• Ensure that consistent supplies of clean laundry (aprons, towels, mopheads, hot pads, etc.) are available.
• Monitor DS vehicles for maintenance and service needs.
• Arrange service with internal and external technicians as needed.
• Ensure that vehicles are kept clean, in good repair, and in reliable working condition.
• Coordinate pickup of orders from secondary vendors in the community.
• Continuing education on custodial best practices.
• Attend Management/Supervisor meetings when scheduled.
• Other duties as assigned.
