The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community. The James Satterwhite Academy (JSA) onboards hundreds of Child Protective Service Workers (CPS), Youth Development Specialist (YDS) each fiscal year. Training observation and assessment, integration of agency policy into new and current curriculum. The JSA curriculum developers are responsible for all JSA’s Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice program’s curriculum design, development, and implementation. The Training Unit provides frontline staff with the values, skills, and knowledge necessary to support Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice cases, primarily through core trainings provided by the James Satterwhite Academy.
