About The Position

HSEP is seeking a virtual course creator for History courses for the 2026-2027 school year and beyond to increase its virtual catalog of asynchronous courses. The virtual course creator will create a virtual course with engaging content accessible to students in an alternative school setting, aligned with the Massachusetts State Frameworks in ELA. This includes creating recorded videos of direct instruction, developing a one-semester course with distinct units of study and skills-based summative assessments, and providing a curriculum map to the Principal. The role also involves grading or supporting the grading of student work for enrolled students.

Responsibilities

  • Create a virtual course that includes a topic that is accessible and engaging to students in an alternative school setting
  • Align the content of the course to the Massachusetts State Frameworks in ELA
  • Create recorded videos of direct instruction that will provide students with a context of the content they are learning about in the course
  • Create a course that lasts one semester and includes separate units of study that end in skills appropriate summative assessments to determine student proficiency
  • Provide a curriculum map for the course to the Principal prior to beginning the course that details the content and standards that they hope to include
  • Are able to grade or support in grading the student work of the students enrolled in the course in the future
