About The Position

Under limited supervision, this role assists District content coordinators, teachers, assistant principals for instruction, and principals in the development and implementation of District education programs. The position provides guidance and instruction to teachers and other instructional staff in the development and revision of curricula, and assists in evaluating and selecting instructional materials and resources to support high-quality teaching and learning.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education
  • Five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Experience in school or district level administration and curriculum development
  • Teaching and administration certification

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and consults with staff regarding development, revision, correlation, integration, and implementation of curricula.
  • Monitors progress and uses data to make recommendations for curricular changes to support student achievement.
  • Interprets instructional programs to administrators, teachers, staff, and the community.
  • Develops innovative approaches for teaching assigned age group and subject area(s).
  • Works cooperatively with support services personnel in the delivery of special services to students.
  • Collaborates with other departments, including but not limited to the Office of Special Services and the Office of Federal and State Programs, to ensure all curriculum materials and programs support and complement the district’s curricula.
  • Leads in developing District formative assessment materials and procedures to measure assessment for and of learning.
  • Supports the Office of Instruction in evaluating instructional materials and equipment.
  • Works cooperatively with the Office of Instruction to conduct a program of in-service education for assigned staff and to improve student achievement.
  • Ensures that all programs in the area of responsibility are in compliance with applicable federal, state, and district laws and policies.
  • Monitors program expenditures and prepares budget reports, as required.
  • Monitors and/or manages special projects and programs, as assigned.
  • Keeps abreast of developments and innovations in the profession.
  • Performs computer data entry to record and retrieve various information, and to prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Works cooperatively with the Office of Accountability, Office of Instruction, and Office of State/Federal programs to ensure appropriate and continuous use of data to improve student achievement.
  • Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports, including expenditure request forms, requisitions, billing invoices, standardized test data, technical study reports, attendance records, field trip requests, budget reports, journals, teaching materials, training materials, curriculum plans, progress reports, schedules, calendars, newsletters, transparencies, memos, correspondence, etc.
  • Operates a variety of equipment such as a computer, printer, telephone, calculator, copier, fax machine, audio-visual equipment, etc.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals, such as the immediate supervisor, other administrators, principals, teachers, other consultants, parents, students, Board members, State Department of Education personnel, government/social service agencies, legislators, sales representatives/publishers and the general public.
  • Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness, accuracy and adherence to federal, state, and District policies and guidelines.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations, as appropriate.
  • Performs general administrative and clerical tasks, including but not limited to: typing, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, attending meetings, maintaining files and records, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Assists in interviewing and selecting new teachers and other instructional staff.
  • Serves on committees and task forces, and attends conferences and workshops as appropriate.
  • Performs related duties as required.
