Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well-being of Canadians, primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, CGL offers customized services to meet the evolving security needs of private and public sector clients, including uniformed guard, mobile response, by-law enforcement, and identification services. This posting is for an existing vacancy for a Commissionaire to join their growing team. The role requires a commitment to serving the needs of clients and employees to enhance organizational success.

Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for long periods.
  • Ability to complete frequent patrols.
  • Understanding of escalation policies and procedures.
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and reception skills.
  • Highly reliable
  • Work well under pressure
  • Able to work with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Serve as frontline ambassadors for the Airport, providing professional, courteous, and proactive customer care.
  • Provide wayfinding assistance, ground transportation guidance, and general airport information.
  • Offer support during irregular operations, including flight delays and peak travel periods.
  • Assist with baggage cart management and availability throughout groundside and public areas.
  • Maintain a consistent and visible presence throughout all Groundside Areas.
  • Conduct regular patrols of all Groundside Areas.
  • Actively manage and enforce curbside controls.
  • Enforce Groundside traffic regulations as directed by the Airport Operator.
  • Issue the Airport’s infraction notices and warnings when required.
  • Immediately report violations and operational concerns to the Airport Operations Centre.
  • Maintain and enforce the Airport Ground Transportation Program.
  • Monitor commercial vehicle compliance and staging areas.
  • Ensure orderly flow of taxis, limousines, buses, ride-share, and other authorized operators.
  • Conduct parking lot inspections in accordance with agreed specifications.
  • Ensure entrance and exit gates are operational.
  • Identify and remove unsafe objects or hazards.
  • Assist with parking requirements as requested by the Airport Operator.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly parking office and associated facilities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance program duties as specified by the Airport Operator.
  • Report vandalism, hazards, and suspicious activity to the Airport Operations Centre.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patrol records.
  • Keep a daily log of events, reviewed and verified each day.
  • Monitor flight schedules and adjust staffing levels to accommodate operational demands.
  • Monitor flight activity and proactively adjust staffing to support peak travel periods, delays and cancellations, adverse weather conditions, and special events or increased passenger volumes.
  • Maintain safe, orderly, and customer-friendly curbside and parking operations at all times.
