About The Position

Under general supervision, the CUP Operator will perform a variety of tasks related to the operation of the Central Utilities Plant. This role requires the ability to effectively conduct minor or major repairs, troubleshoot all equipment under the CUP’s jurisdiction, and read/interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics with little to no supervision. The operator must be able to solve problems using creative methods or other resources, communicate effectively with co-workers and hospital staff, and maintain records of activities. Additionally, the role involves operating micro-processing controllers and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on both electrical and mechanical systems within the CUP.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience at Operator level in Utilities Plant Operations.
  • Experience with Boiler Hot Water Systems.
  • Experience with Water Softener Systems.
  • Experience with Cold Water, Hot/Heated Water, Fuel Distribution, Medical Grade Vacuum, Air, Instrument Air, Liquid Oxygen & Nitrous Oxide Distribution Systems.
  • Experience with Maceration Systems.
  • Experience processing of Medical Infectious Waste Streams.
  • Ability to effectively conduct minor or major repairs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot all equipment under the CUP’s jurisdiction.
  • Ability to read & interpret blueprints, diagrams & schematics.
  • Ability to work with O & M manuals with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to solve or approach problems or tasks using creative methods or other resources.
  • Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and other hospital staff.
  • Able to transmit or receive information through writing, talking or listening using the English language.
  • Ability to maintain records of activities.
  • Ability to operate micro-processing controllers and associated accessories.
  • Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance to electrical systems/equipment of the CUP.
  • Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance to the Mechanical systems/equipment of the CUP.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems/equipment of the CUP, including plumbing, welding, fabrication, corrosion prevention, carpentry, and masonry work.
  • Influence co-workers and other hospital staff to follow the achievement of common goals.
  • Lead a team effectively to complete routine or special projects assigned.
