About The Position

City of Edinburg in Edinburg, TX is actively seeking a dedicated Cultural Venues Supervisor to implement the work plan for the Cultural Arts Division. This role involves overseeing and managing the day-to-day facility and venue operations of the Cultural Arts Division Venues Program, ensuring all venues are operational, properly staffed, safely maintained, and prepared for various events. The position manages the execution of facility use and venue activities, acting as a liaison between users and enforcing policies related to building use, safety, rentals, and asset protection. The role requires constant readiness for new challenges, including supervising, training, scheduling, and evaluating venue staff, delegating duties, and resolving operational issues. Responsibilities also include maintaining the official calendar of venue rentals, programs, rehearsals, and events, collecting and reporting monthly facility usage and rental data, monitoring venue-related budgets and revenue performance, and assisting with identifying funding needs and supporting facility upkeep and improvements. The ideal candidate will possess skills in customer service and budgeting and find enjoyment in their work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Art/Arts Administration, Public Administration, Event Management, Facilities Management or related field.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in facility operations, venue management, event operations, or a closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Must have a current and valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Public Administration, Arts Administration, Facilities Management, Event Management, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible, professional-level experience in facility operations, venue management, event operations, or a closely related field.
  • Associate's degree plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in venue operations, facilities management, or event operations may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Skills in facilitating projects and preparation of grants.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day facility and venue operations of the Cultural Arts Division Venues Program.
  • Ensure all venues are fully operational, properly staffed, safely maintained, and consistently prepared to support rentals, programs, rehearsals, performances, meetings, and special events.
  • Manage the operations execution of facility use and venue activities within the Cultural Arts Division.
  • Serve as a liaison between users.
  • Enforce policies related to building use, safety, rentals, and asset protection.
  • Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate venue staff.
  • Delegate job duties and resolve operational issues to ensure effective staffing coverage.
  • Maintain and manage the official calendar of venue rentals, programs, rehearsals, and events across all Cultural Art Division facilities, ensuring accurate scheduling, resource coordination, and avoidance of conflicts.
  • Collect and report monthly facility usage and rentals.
  • Monitor venue-related budgets and rental revenue performance.
  • Assist supervising staff with identifying funding needs.
  • Grant support for ongoing facility upkeeping and improvements.
