About The Position

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Cultural Resources Specialist to conduct archaeological surveys and writes archaeological site monitoring and impact assessments. This role has familiarity with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and experience with Section 106 compliance. This position requires onsite presence at Camp Croft, South Carolina.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Archaeology/Anthropology, or closely related field
  • Secretary of Interior qualified in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field
  • 1+ year of full-time professional experience in archaeological research or cultural resource management
  • 1+ year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archaeological resources
  • At least four months of supervised field and analytic experience in general North American archaeology
  • At least 6-12 months experience in South Carolina or the southeastern United States
  • Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion
  • Familiarity with GIS mapping and data analysis
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and interacting with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong interpersonal, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet multiple schedule deadlines
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and experience with Section 106 compliance (not required).

Responsibilities

  • Conducts archaeological surveys, archaeological site monitoring, and impact assessments.
  • Assists in the management of projects, site documentation, and making NRHP recommendations.
  • Tracks milestone dates and deadlines for plans and permits.
  • Reviews project documents (work plans, schedule, and technical reports).
  • Completes standard cultural resource forms accurately and concisely.
  • Manages and organizes cultural resources data and files.
  • Collects digital data using tablet based electronic forms.
  • Assists with the inspection and photography of curated collections.
  • Maintains open communication with project staff regarding all issues and develop resolutions.
  • Performs tasks in a safe manner.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
