As a Cultural Resources Project Manager at HELIX Environmental Planning, you’ll play a key role in shaping how cultural resources are preserved and managed across the region. The Cultural Resources Project Manager role offers flexibility with a hybrid or fully remote work environment, paired with meaningful fieldwork and site engagement across Northern California.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in archaeology, anthropology, history, or related field
  • Minimum 6 years of archaeology experience (field surveys, reports, and agency coordination)
  • At least 2 years in environmental consulting or agency settings
  • Strong knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, and Section 106 compliance
  • Experience with northern and central California prehistoric and historic archaeology
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Valid California driver’s license
  • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) or ability to obtain

  • Specialized analytical skills (e.g., geoarchaeology, lithics, ceramics)
  • GPS and field data collection experience
  • Experience coordinating with agencies and Native American groups
  • Established client relationships

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee cultural resources projects across Northern California
  • Manage research, field surveys, data recovery, and artifact analysis
  • Direct mitigation monitoring programs and reporting efforts
  • Prepare proposals and technical documents
  • Coordinate with clients, agencies, Tribal representatives, and internal teams
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Support business development and client relationship growth
