About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Independent Living Administrator with the planning and executing recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for the residents. The Cultural Arts Manager will plan and/or lead programs for the Life Enrichment Department, developing, planning, and promoting programs for residents including arts, outings, speakers, and shows. This role involves scheduling and assisting in setting up and/or cleaning up areas for programs, leading activities for residents as requested, and attending committee meetings. Additionally, the position tracks program results including resident participation, ideas, and feedback, keeps records of all programs, aids in yearly budget planning, and creates program ideas for approval. The role also schedules outside trips, coordinates travel accommodations, submits monthly special event forms to Dining Services, and submits monthly room set-up sheets to the Housekeeping Department. The Cultural Arts Manager acts as a leader and manager of assigned positions, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and accuracy in work performed, including providing initial and ongoing training to volunteers, identifying and addressing unacceptable performance, and ensuring volunteers follow established policies and procedures. The role also involves screening and interviewing volunteers as needed. The Cultural Arts Manager must maintain a professional presence, uphold resident confidentiality, demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior, maintain positive working relationships, exhibit professional standards, demonstrate knowledge of work assignments and policies, and use tactful communication. Professional development is key, including participating in assigned activities, maintaining certifications, demonstrating flexibility, and committing to continuous skill improvement. Compliance with established safety rules and security practices is also essential.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or associate degree in a Human Service field required
  • one (1) to three (3) years of human service experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Incumbent should be able to apply practical knowledge and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form
  • possess high-quality verbal and written communication ability
  • strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in the operation of computer applications such as Microsoft Office
  • various office machines including switchboard telephone, calculator/adding machine, copying machine, fax, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules outside trips and coordinates travel accommodations with the Transportation Coordinator.
  • Submits monthly special event forms to Dining Services.
  • Submits monthly room set-up sheets to the Housekeeping Department.
  • Acts as a leader and manager of assigned positions; ensuring productivity, efficiency and accuracy in work performed.
  • Ensures initial and ongoing training is provided to volunteers as needed; ensures cross-training is completed as appropriate.
  • Identifies unacceptable performance and behavior exhibited by volunteers and takes appropriate action; utilizes progressive discipline policy when appropriate and maintains documentation as required.
  • Assures that volunteers follow established policies and procedures.
  • Screens and interviews volunteers on an as needed basis.
  • Maintains professional presence when representing Ingleside; exhibits degrees of professionalism consistent with standards in performance, behavior, and appearance.
  • Always maintain resident confidentiality according to policies and procedures; use discretion when discussing confidential matters.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior with residents, families, co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and other department staff.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with management and coworkers; willingly follow directions and requests as appropriate.
