About The Position

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions are full service vacation destinations, including meeting & convention facilities that combine America’s largest indoor Waterparks with the magic of Africa. Whether you’re 3, 83, or anything in -between, we pride ourselves on having something for everyone! The Culinary Kitchen Intern will be rotating through the various kitchen phases. You'll assist in the preparation of food items for all restaurant and/or room service meals, hiring, training, scheduling, and directing restaurant culinary and kitchen staff; visually inspecting all food products to be served to ensure they all meet the quality standards set out by departmental and resort management. You'll also be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation and safety in the kitchen, and storage areas while minimizing waste and maximizing cost/production ratio.

Requirements

  • Current full time tertiary students OR Graduates with experience and their hotel school qualifications
  • Aged 19 -30
  • South African/ Namibian passport holders (some other foreign nationals will be considered)
  • Proficient in English
  • Applicants must have finances available to pay for travels
  • Hard working, efficient, committed to a 12-month placement
  • Passion for the hospitality industry
  • Fit and Healthy

Nice To Haves

  • Kitchen equipment to be operated, but not limited to are: Flat grill, Pasta well, Steam table, Browning oven, Cheese chopper/grater, Steam jacket, Ovens, Top Burners, Pizza and Dessert Cooler, Slicer, Broiler, Steamer, and Knives.

Responsibilities
