About The Position

Join the fun, fast-paced environment at Destination Geneva National, located along the shores of Lake Como and three championship golf courses in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin’s top resort town. We offer multiple venues for culinary interns, from Geneva National's Clubhouse restaurant, turf, to our five-star Hunt Club Steakhouse, the Paloma Cantina, Crafted Italia, and our banquet kitchens from which we execute some 80 weddings and other corporate and social events per year. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in menu development, recipe formulations and daily kitchen operations while refining your cooking, safety, and teamwork skills. This internship provides an opportunity to develop essential skills and knowledge in the culinary arts, preparing you for a career in the hospitality industry. Complimentary housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis with priority given to six-month interns.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a program at a culinary institute, community college/trade school, or four-year college.
  • Emphasis of study preferred to be focused on culinary, food sciences, or restaurant management.
  • Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills
  • Capable of a minimum 12-week commitment
  • ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain
  • Cooking knowledge and techniques
  • Stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to safety and detail orientation
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Keen sense of taste and smell to ensure high-quality dishes
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing situations
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (up to 8–10 hours per shift).Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift frequently.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30–50 lbs. regularly.
  • Ability to push, pull, or move heavy equipment or carts.
  • Manual dexterity to handle knives, cooking utensils, and kitchen equipment safely.
  • Tolerance for working in hot, humid, and fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to work with exposure to open flames, hot surfaces, and sharp objects.
  • Ability to hear, speak, and see clearly to ensure safety and accuracy in a busy kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist chefs in gathering ingredients, preparing carts for banquets, and maintaining clean workstations
  • Measure ingredients, replenish supplies, and complete other duties as assigned
  • Develop recipes and contribute to menu development
  • Participate in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, plating, and presentation
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient and safe food service
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards
