Culinary Intern

Boyne ResortsBoyne Valley Township, MI

About The Position

There's no classroom quite like a working kitchen — and few kitchens offer the variety, volume, and mentorship of Boyne Mountain Resort. If you're currently studying culinary arts, hospitality, or food and beverage management and you're ready to turn your coursework into real-world experience, this internship was built for you. This is a hands-on, learn-everything opportunity to work alongside experienced chefs across multiple dining outlets — from Forty Acres Tavern and Everett's Restaurant to our Banquets Kitchen. You'll leave with skills, confidence, and a genuine understanding of what it takes to run a professional kitchen at a premier resort. Everything we do at Boyne Mountain is guided by our core values — L.E.A.D.S: Long-Term Thinking, Excellence in Execution, Attitude is Everything, Develop Great People, and Serve First. In this role, you'll experience these values in action every day and carry them with you long after the season ends. And as a Boyne Mountain team member, you'll enjoy ski passes, golf passes, waterpark passes, and discounts on food, beverages, retail, and more! Requirements

  • You are currently enrolled in a culinary, hospitality, or food and beverage management program at an accredited college or university.
  • You are 18 years of age or older.
  • You're available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays — a resort kitchen runs on the guests' schedule, and you're ready for that.
  • You are detail-oriented. You take pride in doing things the right way - even the small things.
  • Attitude is Everything - You're a team player who brings positive energy to every shift, communicates well, and understands that how you show up matters just as much as what you know.
  • You are able to lift up to 40 pounds and are comfortable on your feet in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

  • Long-Term Thinking - From day one, you'll immerse yourself in the culture, history, and values of Boyne Mountain — building a foundation that shapes how you think about hospitality and kitchen management for the rest of your career.
  • Develop Great People - This internship is designed for your development. Work closely with our Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef on daily tasks, ask questions, and take every opportunity to grow. The more you put in, the more you'll take away.
  • Excellence in Execution - Rotate through all entry-level kitchen positions — prep cooking, pantry and cold food, food storage, expediting, and food running — learning each role with attention to detail and a commitment to doing it right.
  • Serve First - Support the team across multiple food and beverage outlets including Forty Acres Tavern, Everett's Restaurant, and the Banquets Kitchen — stepping in wherever you're needed and always keeping the guest experience at the center of your work.
  • Record and assist with regular inventory alongside the chef, gaining real exposure to the operational and financial side of kitchen management.
  • Learn any tasks relevant to your educational experience as assigned — this internship is shaped in part by what you are here to learn.
