About The Position

The Hostess is responsible for setting the tone of a high-energy and excellent dining experience for Bible Institute Students, Campers, Guests, and Staff at the Word of Life Florida Property. This role cultivates a high energy dining experience for Campers, Bible Institute Students, Guests, and Staff, caring deeply about the overall dining experience of everyone who enters one of our dining rooms. The Hostess monitors drink machines, counter spaces, waffle makers, toasters, etc. for cleanliness and functionality, and ensures proper placement of food items to enhance the dining experience. They work in conjunction with Student Life to cultivate a high energy dining experience for Student Events and with Retreats & Conferences to create an excellent and classy dining experience for Conference Season and Special Guest Dinners. This role manages the Signature Dining Room (Conference Center) and Dining Hall (Bible Institute & Camps), building strong working relationships with student service assignments, work-for-pay staff, and volunteers. The Hostess assists the Food Service Manager with scheduling and monitors meal access control with integrity and accountability, requiring Student and Staff ID scanning for all meal access. They also notify the Food Service Manager of any maintenance concerns with the dining halls. The Hostess walks table to table during meals for quality control and hospitality. They ensure every meal is prepared to start on time from a dining perspective, with a full supply of necessary items and a clean, well-organized dining room. During meals, they monitor and restock items before they run out, ensuring no item is ever depleted. Every meal should be closed on time or late, but never early.

Responsibilities

  • Set the tone for a high-energy and excellent dining experience.
  • Cultivate a high energy dining experience for students, campers, guests, and staff.
  • Monitor drink machines, counter spaces, waffle makers, toasters, etc. for cleanliness and functionality.
  • Monitor placement of food items and adjust as needed to enhance the dining experience.
  • Work with Student Life to cultivate a high energy dining experience for Student Events.
  • Work with Retreats & Conferences to cultivate an excellent and classy dining experience for Conference Season and Special Guest Dinners.
  • Manage Signature Dining Room and Dining Hall.
  • Build healthy and strong working relationships with student service assignments, work for pay staff, and volunteers.
  • Assist Food Service Manager with scheduling student workers and volunteers.
  • Monitor and execute meal access control with integrity and accountability (Student and Staff ID scanning required).
  • Notify the Food Service Manager of any maintenance related concerns with the dining halls.
  • Walk table to table during meals for quality control and hospitality.
  • Ensure every meal is prepared to start on time from a dining perspective.
  • Ensure every meal begins with a full supply of plates, bowls, silverware, cups, napkins, condiments, etc.
  • Ensure every meal begins with a clean and well-organized dining room.
  • Monitor meals and restock items when they are low, ensuring no item runs out.
  • Close every meal on time or late, but never early.
