About The Position

At Morningstar Living in Nazareth, PA, our Culinary Associates play an important role in creating a warm, home-like dining experience for our residents. In this role—part of our unique Homemaker model—you’ll independently manage the kitchen in a small resident living area, serving approximately 25 residents. This part-time position (10:30 AM – 7:00 PM) includes preparing and serving meals, maintaining a clean and organized space, and interacting with residents throughout the day. It’s a hands-on role that offers autonomy, routine, and the opportunity to be a consistent, familiar presence for those you serve.

Requirements

One year previous experience with food preparation and food service.
Must follow all industry standards in the safe food handling.
Must follow all industry standards in the safe food handling.
Excellent customer service skills and demonstrates good verbal communication skills with residents, staff, and guests.

Responsibilities

Prepares high quality food in accordance with all pertinent safety and health regulations, guidelines and standards.
Follows menus and recipes correctly, making any necessary or requested substitutions appropriately.
Understands liberalized therapeutic diets and special food requirements and finds ways to make such modifications palatable and enjoyable.
Understands level of texture modification and how to prepare those items including piping or using a mold for the puree foods to create food shapes that are more appealing.
Takes accurate inventory, and orders neighborhood grocery supplies from the main kitchen using the floor stock ordering system.
Regularly seeks resident’s direction in choices of foods, menus, recipes and presentation.
Facilitates mealtime conversations and maintains a warm, pleasant atmosphere while residents are eating.
