About The Position

The Culinary Assistant is responsible for dining room and to-go meal service to residents. The schedule includes 21 hours every two weeks, with shifts from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The schedule is a block schedule: Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. Week 2: Tuesday and Wednesday. This role involves every other weekend and holiday rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Serves meals and ensures that the dining area is clean and inviting.
  • Follows meal serving schedule and procedures.
  • Offers resident meal choices and meets resident’s specific dietary needs.
  • Uses proper safety and sanitation techniques.
  • Follows dining room cleaning schedule and procedures.
  • Follow proper procedures for dining room set-up.
  • Follows proper work flow to stay on task.
  • Learns and becomes proficient with EMenu System and restaurant style service.
  • Ensures all dishes (including flatware, drinkware, etc.) are washed, sanitized, and put away before end of shift.
  • Promotes and encourages positive resident relations and satisfaction.
  • Welcomes residents and initiates conversation.
  • Accommodates resident requests such as requests for food substitution, change in seating, etc.
  • Listens to any complaints and responds appropriately. Refers issues to Executive Director and Culinary Director as appropriate.
